Cancellation Policy

Effective 15 May 2026

Each Listing on the Platform displays one of the five standard cancellation policies below. The Owner selects which policy applies to their Listing. The refund amount on cancellation depends on the policy and how far in advance the cancellation is made.

The Renter Service Fee (5% of the rental price) is non-refundable unless the booking is cancelled by the Owner or by the Platform.

All times are measured from the scheduled rental start time stated in the booking confirmation, in the local time zone of the Vessel's marina.

When the Renter receives a full refund regardless of policy

  • The Owner cancels the booking (any reason).
  • The Owner fails to deliver the Vessel at the agreed handover time (no-show by Owner).
  • The Owner fails to verify the Renter's licence or competency declaration through no fault of the Renter, and refuses to deliver the Vessel.
  • Weather, safety, or mechanical reasons make the rental unsafe and the Owner cannot offer a rescheduled date the Renter is able to accept (see below).
  • The Vessel materially does not match the Listing description, and the Owner cannot offer a comparable substitute the Renter accepts.

In each case the Renter Service Fee is also refunded.

Safety cancellations (weather, mechanical, force majeure)

If the Owner cancels for safety reasons they can substantiate on request (adverse weather, mechanical failure, port-authority restriction, or other circumstances beyond their reasonable control), the Owner shall:

  1. Notify the Renter as early as possible.
  2. Offer a reasonable rescheduled date.
  3. Where the Renter does not accept the rescheduled date, refund the rental price in full (the Platform will refund the Renter Service Fee separately).

No cancellation penalty is charged to the Owner in such cases.

When the Renter is treated as a no-show

If the Renter does not arrive at the handover point within sixty (60) minutes of the agreed start time, has not given prior notice, and cannot be reached on the contact number provided, the Owner may treat the booking as a Renter no-show. No-shows are not entitled to a refund regardless of the cancellation policy.

How to cancel

Cancellations can only be made through the Platform — in the Renter's dashboard under "My Bookings". Cancellations made by message, email, or directly to the Owner outside the Platform are not effective until processed by the Platform.

When refunds are paid

Approved refunds are processed by Stripe back to the original payment method within five (5) business days of cancellation. Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to reflect the refund.

Disputes

If you disagree with how a cancellation has been handled, you can raise a dispute via support@cyprusboatrental.com. The Platform's dispute resolution process (set out in the Boat Owner Listing Agreement §8 and the Booking Terms §10) applies; the Platform's determination is binding for the purpose of releasing funds held by the Platform, but does not prevent either party from pursuing other legal remedies.

Right of withdrawal does not apply

Boat rentals are dated leisure / accommodation services. Under Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU (Consumer Rights Directive), the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to bookings of accommodation, transport, vehicle rental, catering, or leisure services for a specific date or period of performance. Cancellation rights are therefore governed solely by the policy selected on the Listing and the protections set out on this page.
