Booking & Reservations

How do I book a boat on CyprusBoatRental?+
Browse available boats by location, date, and type. Once you find a boat you like, select your preferred duration (hourly or daily), choose whether you need a skipper, and click 'Book Now' or 'Request to Book'. You'll pay securely online to confirm your reservation.
Can I book a boat for just a few hours?+
Yes. Many boats on CyprusBoatRental offer hourly rentals, typically ranging from 1 to 8 hours. Each listing shows the minimum booking duration and hourly pricing. This is ideal for short trips like sunset cruises or swimming excursions.
What is the difference between 'Instant Book' and 'Request to Book'?+
With 'Instant Book', your reservation is confirmed immediately after payment. With 'Request to Book', the boat owner reviews your request and has 24 hours to accept or decline. Both methods require payment upfront, but you are only charged once the owner accepts a request.
Do I need a boating license to rent a boat?+
It depends on the boat and local regulations. Some boats, especially smaller ones or those rented with a skipper, do not require a license. Larger vessels may require a valid boating license. Each listing clearly states the requirements.

Payments & Pricing

How does payment work?+
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. When you book, your payment is held safely and only released to the boat owner after the trip begins. If the owner cancels, you receive a full refund. There are no hidden fees — the total price is shown before you confirm.
What payment methods are accepted?+
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure Stripe payment gateway. Bank transfers and cash payments are not supported for safety reasons.
Is fuel included in the rental price?+
It varies by listing. Each boat page clearly indicates whether fuel is included or paid separately. Look for the fuel badge on boat cards. When fuel is not included, the owner will explain the fuel policy (e.g., return the tank full or pay based on usage).
Are there any additional fees or taxes?+
The price displayed on each listing includes the boat rental fee. A small service fee is added at checkout to cover platform costs and payment processing. VAT is included where applicable. There are no hidden charges.

Cancellations & Refunds

Can I cancel my booking?+
Yes. Each listing has a cancellation policy (Flexible, Moderate, Strict, or Non-Refundable). The refund amount depends on the policy and how far in advance you cancel. You can view the cancellation policy on the boat's listing page before booking.
What happens if the owner cancels?+
If a boat owner cancels your booking, you receive a full refund including all fees. We also help you find an alternative boat if availability permits.
What if the weather is bad on the day of my trip?+
Safety always comes first. If weather conditions are unsafe for boating, most owners will offer to reschedule or provide a full refund. We recommend contacting your host through our messaging system as soon as you're aware of weather concerns.

Safety & Insurance

Is boat rental safe?+
Safety is our top priority. All boat owners must verify their identity and ensure their vessels meet safety standards. Boats must carry required safety equipment (life jackets, fire extinguisher, first aid kit). We recommend always following the safety briefing provided by your host.
What about insurance?+
All boat owners are required to have valid insurance covering their vessel for charter use. As a renter, you are covered by the owner's insurance policy during your trip. We strongly recommend reviewing the insurance details provided on each listing and bringing your own travel insurance.
What if something goes wrong during the trip?+
In case of emergency, contact local maritime authorities first (Cyprus: 1441). Then reach out to your host and our support team. CyprusBoatRental provides 24/7 emergency support for active bookings. Report any incidents through your booking dashboard.

Hosting Your Boat

How do I list my boat on CyprusBoatRental?+
Create an account, click 'List Your Boat', and follow the step-by-step process. Add photos, set your hourly and daily pricing, define your availability and cancellation policy, and publish. It takes about 10 minutes.
How much does it cost to list my boat?+
Listing your boat is completely free. CyprusBoatRental takes a 10% commission on the rental price of completed bookings — you keep 90%. There are no monthly subscriptions, setup fees, or hidden costs.
How and when do I get paid?+
Payouts are processed automatically via Stripe after each completed trip. Funds typically arrive in your bank account within 2-5 business days. You can track all your earnings and payout history in your dashboard.
Can I set different prices for different durations?+
Yes. You can set individual hourly rates (1h through 8h) as well as a daily rate. You can also set different prices for trips with or without a skipper, and adjust pricing seasonally.
